**Optional (1): This day in the afternoon you have the option to do river rafting tour for 2 hours, you can decide the day before your tour start.

Day 2: Santa Maria – Quellomayo – Santa Teresa

After a healthy breakfast we will get ready to walk, this day we walk 7 or 8 hours approximately, first we’ll take a flat part of the Urubamba riverside to start to ascend as one hour up, where you’ll find a part of one Inca route, as all the ancients Inca trails it is stoned with rocks and smalls stones, where we are going up and down for some steps; at this time we’ll be in the upper part of the mountain where you will meet some animal like green parrots, hummingbird, insects, etc; also we’ll find medicinal plants, and more fruits as avocados, pineapples, mangos, then we are going to descent and cross the river in a typical cable cars (oroyas) and in footbridges; the small hamlet of Quellomayo will be our resting place to have lunch, after that, you continue walking others 2 hours near to the river to arrive to the hot springs of COCALMAYU, in this place we can take a shower in the big pool of warm and clean water and relax, then after 45 minutes walking we’ll arrive to the town SANTA TERESA, where we will sleep this night.

Day 3: Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes

This day will continue the trek to arrive the village of Machu Picchu, the walk will be 5 to 6 hours, this hike is mainly flat close by the river bank and the rail route, once you arrive in hydroelectric you will have lunch and then continue our course to the village of Machu Picchu (AGUAS CALIENTES), here will have the afternoon off to rest; after dinner we´ll go to rest early thinking already in the tour of the next day, MACHUPICCHU.

Day 4: Machupicchu-Cusco

We get up very early (4:30 a.m.), to start to walk up to the archeological site of MACHUPICCHU (one and a half hours hike), we start early in the morning to have the option to see the sun rise in MACHU PICCHU, after taking the first pictures our guide will give us information about the history and architecture (two hours) around the main places of the city, then you’ll have free time (4 or 5 hours) to walk around and take pictures yourself, in this free time you wil have the option to climb up to Waynapicchu or Machupicchu mountains (this has a extra price and you have to book in advance), in the afternoon we have to go down again to Aguas Calientes, where you will have time to have lunch, then we will take the train to return to Ollantaytambo, (train departure 19:00 hrs) and in this place our friend will be waiting for us to bring you back to CUSCO again 22:30pm.

We offer you two options to go back to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu

You can visit Machu Picchu for a longer time and have enough time if you are planning
to do HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN, which require a minimum of
3 hours approximately. After visiting the area of Machu Picchu for 6 to 7 hours, you
have to return to the town of Aguas Calientes to take a train to Ollantaytambo
(depending of your train schedule you have to be at the train station 1/2 hour before)
for 1.5 hours then we will bring you by car to Cusco for 2 hours more to arrive in Cusco.

You arrive at Machu Picchu around 6:00 am for the guided tour for 2.5 hours then you
have free time to explore the site on your own. If you take this option, and you are
thinking to do HUAYNAPICCHU or MACHU PICCHU MOUNTAIN is possible but will
be too tight and rush because you need to leave Machu Picchu at 11:30 to walk back
to Hydroelectric for 3 hours in order to be in Hidrolectrica at 14:30 pm to take a car for
6 hours back Cusco. If you are considering doing this option and doing one of the
mountains, we recommend you stay one more night in Aguas Calientes and return the
6th day to Cusco by car.
